Hornsby Shire Council is inviting the community to have their say on the draft Destination Management Plan 2025–2030, now on public exhibition after being endorsed in last night’s Council Meeting. This foundational Plan sets out a strategic vision to grow and enhance the Shire’s visitor economy over the next five years.
The draft Plan outlines a series of initiatives aimed at enhancing visitor experiences, increasing visitation, growing visitors’ average length of stay, boosting local spending, and raising the Shire’s profile as a unique and attractive destination.
It is built around four key destination pillars – river, rural, parks and bushland, and towns and villages – and provides a framework for collaboration between Council, local businesses, and government agencies to deliver practical outcomes.
Hornsby Shire Mayor Warren Waddell said the draft Destination Management Plan is a welcome step forward in shaping the future of tourism in the region, and called on local businesses to get involved.
“We’re inviting cafés, restaurants, accommodation providers, tour operators and other local businesses to help us bring this vision to life. By working together, we can create a stronger, more vibrant visitor economy that benefits the whole community. This Plan is a starting point, and its success depends on collaboration and shared commitment.”
