The NSW Government has announced $100,000 in funding to support multicultural media in NSW.
The grant to the Independent Multicultural Media Association (IMMA) will fund essential programs to support the sustainability and growth of local multicultural media outlets.
IMMA is a body representing more than 45 multicultural media outlets in Australia, which collectively engage with up to five million people every month.
The Government’s support will enable IMMA to:
- build industry capability through workshops, peer learning groups and mentorship programs
- build organisational capacity, digital capability and strengthen corporate governance.
- complete comprehensive industry research to identify challenges and opportunities for growth.
Similar to other publishers, multicultural media publishers are facing challenges in audience engagement and maintaining a strong financial operating model.
The grant is co-funded by Multicultural NSW and NSW Department of Customer Service.
