NSW Premier Condemns Alleged Racially Motivated Attack at Parramatta

Chris Minns, NSW Premier

Sydney – NSW Premier Chris Minns has condemned an alleged racially motivated assault on an Indian-Australian man at Westfield Parramatta, calling the reports “deeply concerning” and reaffirming the state’s zero-tolerance stance on racism.

In a statement released on Wednesday, Premier Minns said no person in New South Wales should “ever be targeted or intimidated because of their background or identity.” He expressed the Government’s support for the victim and his family during what he described as an “incredibly distressing time.”

NSW Police have launched an investigation into the incident, and the Premier urged anyone with information to assist authorities.

“Racism has no place in our state and we will always call it out when we see it,” Minns said, emphasizing the Government’s ongoing commitment to ensuring safety and respect for people of all cultural backgrounds.

The Premier also highlighted ongoing collaboration between community leaders, local organisations, and law enforcement to strengthen community safety and cohesion across New South Wales.
