The Victorian Multicultural Commission (VMC) has opened expressions of interest for the 2026 Multicultural Youth Network (MYN), calling on young Victorians aged 18 to 25 from multicultural and multifaith backgrounds to apply.
The MYN, a flagship advisory body of the VMC, brings together up to 20 young people from metropolitan and regional Victoria to help shape government policy and strengthen youth participation across the state. Members provide critical insights on issues affecting multicultural young people, including mental health, family violence, education, employment, racism, representation and community safety.
As part of the network, young people act as a vital link between their communities and the Victorian Government—ensuring lived experience, local knowledge and diverse perspectives guide policy development and decision-making. Participants also have the opportunity to build leadership and advocacy skills, broaden networks and deepen their understanding of government processes.
Applicants will be assessed on their commitment to multicultural young people, their awareness of local issues and their connection to their community. No formal qualifications or previous experience are required. Shortlisted candidates may be asked to provide additional information and complete a police check.
Expressions of interest close at 11:59 pm on 11 January 2026. Young people from refugee and asylum seeker backgrounds, new and emerging communities, and international students are strongly encouraged to apply.
