MESSAGE FOR VAISAKHI 2022
Happy Vaisakhi to our Indian and Sikh Australian communities joining with those around the world in celebrating this festive occasion.
As you gather to celebrate with your loved ones and communities, I hope today is not only a celebration of your history and your culture, but a celebration of how the community embodies the principles of equality and justice, the foundations of Sikhism.
The festival of Vaisakhi honours values of tolerance, generosity, peace and justice. The consistent generosity and spirit of service of our multicultural communities makes Vaisakhi an opportunity for us all to rejoice in the ways that Australians have remained united and resilient, despite the challenges we have faced.
At this time I extend my sincere thanks to the Indian and Sikh Australian communities celebrating Vaisakhi for the continued support you have shown to each other and our wider community, ensuring we have remained together and cohesive.
I hope that this yearโs Vaisakhi celebrations bring joy and prosperity for you and your communities.
I wish you all a safe and happy celebration of Vaisakhi.
Vaisakhi diyan lakh lakh vadhaiyan
